Managing your product catalogue

A product is an item or service you offer. Build your catalogue once, and products drop straight into your quotes and templates as line items, with no need to re-type the same items job after job.

For most solar businesses this means adding every component and service you regularly quote: panels by make and watt rating, inverters, batteries, mounting hardware, cabling, installation labour, commissioning, warranty packages, and so on.

What each product stores

• Name: the item name shown on quotes (e.g. “400W Monocrystalline Panel”).
• Description: optional detail visible to buyers on the quote.
• Category: required. Groups products in your catalogue and on quotes (e.g. “Solar Panels”, “Inverters”, “Installation”).
• Base price: the default unit price. This is what flows into templates and quotes when you add the product.
• Currency: the currency of the base price.
• Photos: optional product images.
• Active / Inactive: Active products are available in the quote editor. Inactive products are hidden from selection but not deleted.

Adding products one at a time

Go to Products → Add Product. Fill in the fields and save. The product is available straight away to add to quotes and templates.

Importing your catalogue from a CSV

If you have an existing price list in a spreadsheet, import it in bulk rather than entering products one at a time.

Go to Products → Import. The import is a three-step process:

Step 1: Select your file. Upload a CSV file. The importer reads the first row and shows a preview. If your file has a header row, leave “First row is header” ticked.

Step 2: Map your columns. Match each column in your CSV to the correct product field. The importer tries to auto-match obvious column names (e.g. a column called “Price” maps to Base Price automatically). The two required fields are Name and Category. All others are optional. Review the mapping and adjust where needed.

Step 3: Import. Click Import to create the products. You’re redirected to your products list when it’s done.

Tips for a clean import:

• Your CSV must include a column for product name and a column for category.
• Category values must match the category names already set up on the platform. Check your existing categories before importing.
• Price values should be plain numbers (no currency symbols, no commas).
• An “active” column can be true/false or 1/0 to set active status on import.

Keeping prices current

When you update a product’s base price, any template that includes that product will pick up the new price the next time the template is loaded. This means you can manage your pricing in one place.

Active vs Inactive

Mark a product Inactive when you’ve stopped selling it but want to keep its history. Inactive products don’t appear in the quote editor but remain on any quotes or templates that already include them.
