Building a quote
A quote is your priced offer for a request. The buyer sees all the quotes they’ve received side by side and chooses one.
Build a quote
Section titled “Build a quote”Go to Quotes → New Quote, or choose an energy request and click Create a Quote to start with the details pre-filled.
You can also start from a template, using the template picker inside the form, or apply one later via the template selection button. Starting from a template drops your saved line items and terms into the form straight away.
Quote type
Section titled “Quote type”Every quote is either a Cash Purchase or Energy as a Service. Choose the type that matches what you’re selling.
Cash Purchase is a one-time purchase. The buyer pays once for the equipment and installation. Use this for a straightforward supply-and-install job: panels, inverter, wiring, labour. The buyer owns the system outright after payment.
Energy as a Service is an ongoing service arrangement (a power purchase agreement, a lease, or a managed energy service). Energy as a Service quotes require three extra fields to define the terms of the ongoing arrangement:
- Billing period: how often the buyer is billed (e.g. every 1 month, every 3 months).
- Billing cycles: the total number of billing periods in the contract (e.g. 24 months = 24 cycles of 1 month each).
- Total price override: the full agreed contract value. This is required because a service arrangement has a negotiated value that may not be a simple sum of line items.
Pricing method
Section titled “Pricing method”Inside either quote type you can choose how the pricing is displayed to the buyer.
Itemised lists each line item with its own unit price and quantity, so the buyer can see exactly what each component costs. This is the standard approach for most solar installation quotes (panels at ₦X each, inverter at ₦Y, installation at ₦Z, etc.).
Bundled presents a single total price. Your line items are still listed for reference, but the price shown to the buyer is the bundled total rather than individual line costs. Useful when you prefer not to break out component pricing.
Line items
Section titled “Line items”Each line item has:
- Product: select from your product catalogue or type a one-off item name.
- Category: assigned automatically from the selected product, or set manually.
- Quantity: how many units.
- Unit price: price per unit in the selected currency.
The quote total is calculated automatically from your line items. For bundled pricing on an Energy as a Service quote, the total price override is used instead.
Other quote fields
Section titled “Other quote fields”- Currency: select the currency for the quote.
- Valid for (days): how many days the quote remains open for the buyer to reserve. A shorter validity period gives the buyer a defined window in which to respond.
- Estimated delivery date: when you expect to complete the work. Visible to the buyer.
- Notes: any additional terms, conditions, or context for the buyer.
Market insights
Section titled “Market insights”While building your quote, click Market Insights to see the current spot price and 7-, 30-, and 90-day trends. Buyers compare quotes from multiple providers, so aligning your pricing with market rates helps you put forward a well-considered offer. See Market insights.
Submitting and tracking
Section titled “Submitting and tracking”A quote starts as Pending (a draft only you can see). Once you submit it, it becomes Submitted and the buyer can see it. You can edit a submitted quote any time before the buyer acts on it. Track all your quotes from the Quotes list, filtered by status.
Withdrawing a quote
Section titled “Withdrawing a quote”If you need to pull out, open the quote and choose Withdraw from the action menu. You’ll be asked for a reason. Once withdrawn, the buyer can no longer reserve it.
When a buyer reserves
Section titled “When a buyer reserves”The buyer’s reservation confirms the job. Here is what happens next:
- Contact details become visible: you can view the buyer’s full name, telephone number, email address, and property address directly on the quote.
- An invoice is generated automatically: the system creates an invoice for the agreed amount and attaches it to the quote.
- Payment is processed through the platform: the buyer pays the full amount. Once payment is confirmed, the quote status updates to Completed.
The quote’s pricing is locked once it is accepted and cannot be changed. You can update notes and the estimated delivery date at any time. See When you win a quote and Getting paid.
Note: If the automatic invoice does not appear, you can create it manually by opening the quote, navigating to the Invoice panel, and selecting Generate Invoice.
